My name is
Sukechika Uchiyama, and I am the Crisis Management Officer for the City of
Kobe.
More will be
said later about the position of Crisis Management Officer, but let me just
say now that it is a new position that was established in April of last year.
Today we'd like
to talk about the crisis management efforts being undertaken by the City of
Kobe. Before we begin, however, I'd like to express our sincere thanks, on
behalf of all the people of Kobe, for the support and encouragement that we
received from all over the world during our recovery and restoration efforts
following the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake.
Now I'd like to
