The EERI Annual Graphics Competition

2010 Winners

Organized by the Younger Members Committee of EERI, the Annual Graphics Competition is intended to encourage innovative thinking in earthquake-related areas of research and to promote a sense of participation and competition in a multidisciplinary environment.

The competition is held once a year. A team of judges reviews the works anonymously and the finalists and the winner will be announced during the awards luncheon at the Institute’s Annual Meeting. The judges are nominated by votes of the Younger Members Committee and are approved by the Board of Directors of the Institute.

A maximum of three submissions will be accepted from any EERI member. The competition is juried by seven top earthquake professionals from different disciplines. The artwork and the submission process are entirely electronic. Examples of artwork include but are not limited to pictures, design graphs, mathematical concepts and formulae in graphical formats, logos, computer animations and simulations, and conceptual designs. Submitted artwork must be related to earthquake science and engineering, earthquake causes, and their consequences. A copyright release form has to be signed for every submission.  Download the Permission to Use Agreement

The winners and the finalists will be announced during the EERI Annual Meeting. The top winner will also be featured in Earthquake Spectra and/or in EERI Newsletter and will receive a plaque of recognition. The finalists will be considered for appearing in the EERI Calendar, on the cover of the Membership Roster, and/or on the cover of the Annual Meeting Program, if related to the theme of the annual meeting.

All finalists will be featured in the EERI Newsletter.
