On June 30, 2010 EERI’s new San Diego Chapter organized a Panel Discussion on the Mw 7.2, El Mayor-Cucapah Earthquake. Six panelists who served as members of the EERI and GEER reconnaissance missions presented and discussed the geology, fault rupture and geotechnical aspects, and the effects of the earthquake on buildings, bridges, and water and waste water systems. The moderator of the discussion was Jorge Meneses, PhD, PE, current president of the EERI San Diego Chapter, and EERI reconnaissance team leader.
