Seismic Design Competition
The Student Leadership Council (SLC), a group of volunteer graduate students, is organizing the 13th annual Seismic Design Competition (SDC) for undergraduate students. The SDC advances the SLC's mission to provide opportunities for undergraduates to develop leadership and interpersonal skills, and to have practical experience and exposure within the earthquake engineering fields. Donations subsidize the cost to students to participate in the SDC, breakfast and lunch during two days of presentations and shaking, coffee breaks, and the costs incurred by the SLC to organize the competition.

Post-Earthquake Reconnaissance Workshop
The Student Leadership Council (SLC) and EERI staff are organizing a post-earthquake evaluation workshop for students for Tuesday afternoon. This workshop will provide overviews of conducting post-earthquake reconnaissance in structural and geotechnical engineering and demonstrations of EERI field data collection tools. The workshop will include a field exercise that will give participants the opportunity to practice making reconnaissance observations using the demonstrated tools. EERI members who complete this training will be well-positioned to contribute effectively to reconnaissance efforts following an earthquake in their area.
