Design Decisions, Methods, and Procedures: First Hawaiian Center Honolulu

First Hawaiian Center: This publication describes the 27-story building designed to represent the corporate identity of one of Hawaii’s most significant banking institutions. The structural system selection and design had to resolve the challenges presented by the building’s nonrectangular, asymmetrical architectural configuration and a nonuniform width and slenderness ratio. The process described provides an excellent illustration of a large coordinated design team at work. September 1997, 43 pp. Gary Chock, Charles Alexander, and Peter Schubert.
