EERI has sponsored the publications in this series for the purpose of highlighting fundamental concepts in practical applications of the seismic design of buildings. These publications focus on the seismic design process as carried out by knowledgeable practitioners. The primary goal is to provide practical insight into applied seismic design, and to illustrate by example how structural decisions must be made with consideration of many other factors.
