San Diego – Tijuana Scenario

In 1990, a planning scenario for a major earthquake in the San Diego-Tijuana metropolitan area was developed. Significant changes in urban growth and population, built environment, cross-border issues, seismology, and earthquake engineering in the last two decades has prompted the need to update this plan. The Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) San Diego Chapter is leading an effort to update this document and better prepare our region for the next big earthquake.

Thursday, November 20, 2014 a dinner meeting was held in San Diego to bring together potentially interested stakeholders, community leaders, and distinguished speakers who actively participated in the 1990 scenario or have successfully performed a scenario in a different region.

Saturday, January 24, 2015 a no cost workshop will be held at University of California, San Diego to identify goals and outcomes of the planning scenario and discuss more about needs of the stakeholders, tools that are required, and technical aspects of the scenario development process.
